Evart Business Expo offers something for everyone

EVART — Giveaways, health screenings, photography lessons and live entertainment are just the icing on the cake for Saturday’s fourth annual Evart Business Expo.

Sponsored by the Evart Area Chamber of Commerce, as many as 40 exhibitors are expected to showcase their goods and services from 1 to 4 p.m. at the high school gym.

“It’s for the people in the community to see what we have to offer and for business people to work together to promote shopping locally,” said Sue Hollingshead, a member of the organizing committee. “The more we shop locally the more we can offer.”

Between 150 and 200 people attended last year’s event.

“We hope this year it will be bigger and better,” she said.

Exhibitors include insurance, banking, realty, floral, construction companies and others.

“It’s a little bit of everything in Osceola County,” Hollingshead said.

For the first time, Spectrum Health’s Evart Clinic and Rehabilitation/Sports Medicine Services will offer free blood pressure and cholesterol checks, glucose screening and educational information.

“They have eight tables set up so it’s going to be a big deal,” Hollingshead said.

Cadillac News photographer Jeff Broddle will be on hand from 1 to 2:30 p.m. to coach participants in the use of digital photography.

“People can ask questions on digital photography and any kind of photography,” Broddle said. “My goal is to help people understand how a digital file differs from a regular photograph and to learn the best way to take photos to submit to our new weekly, the Voice.”

Broddle encourages Expo visitors to bring their cameras and camera manuals.

Other’s showcasing services are the Evart fire and police departments. Both plan to display their vehicles and meet with the public.

Live entertainment will come from Rivertown Shuffle Beats. Individual booths will offer giveaways and a grand prize of a two-night stay at Great Wolf Lodge and passes to the resort waterpark also will be awarded.

Admission to the expo is free.
