Duley, McDonald named top Viking athletes

CADILLAC — Kelsey Duley and Kyle McDonald are the 2007 Lynda Terrill and George Mills Athletic Award winners, given anually to the top female and male graduating senior student-athletes at Cadillac High School.

“Both Kelsey and Kyle are excellent student-athletes,” Cadillac athletic director John Horrigan said. “Both get it done in the classroom and on the floor. They are great ambassadors for Cadillac athletics and we are proud of them.”

They are also siblings of the 2006 winners. Megan Duley and Matt McDonald were honored last school year.

The recipient of the Lynda Terrill Award is Kelsey Duley, the daughter of Bill and Terry Duley.

Kelsey is a two-sport athlete and earned seven letters during her high school career. She played basketball for four years, all of them on varsity where she was team captain her senior year. This past fall, she was selected to the Dream Team of the Cadillac News, First Team Traverse City Record-Eagle and third team Class B All-State.

Kelsey played soccer for four years, with three on varsity where she whas a captain of the team this spring. Last spring, she was All-District and All-Big North Conference Honorable Mention. Duley was named Second Team goalkeeper in the BNC this spring.

Kelsey graduates with a 3.874 GPA and as a three-year scholar athlete. She will continue her education this fall at Albion College, play basketball and is looking for a career in environmental science.

Kyle McDonald, the son of Jeff and Penny McDonald, is the recipient of the George Mills Award.

Kyle is a four-sport athlete, earning seven varsity letters during his high school career. Kyle played football for four years, two on the varsity squad where this past fall he was a captain on the team, Cadillac News Dream Team selection, Record-Eagle Dream Team selection, First Team All-Big North and All-State Honorable Mention.

He also played basketball for four years, three of them on varsity where this past winter he was a team captain, Second Team All-Conference and Cadillac News Dream Team selection. Kyle also played varsity baseball his junior year and tennis his senior year.

Kyle graduated with a 3.986 GPA and was a three-year scholar athlete. He will continue his education this fall at Albion College where he will play basketball. Kyle is on a pre-med course of study.
