Sanford sweeps a pair from Lakers Cadillac News CADILLAC — The Cadillac Lakers American Legion Post 94 baseball team wrapped up its summer season with a pair of losses to Sanford Tuesday. Sanford won the opener 7-2 and the second game 11-3. The Lakers (9-14 overall) were slated to take part in the American Legion District 10 tournament this weekend at Northwood University but rules state teams must have at least 12 players in uniform. “We won’t be able to play in the district because you have to have 12 in uniform and with prior commitments, we can’t fill that,” Cadillac manager Dave Champion said. “It was a pleasure to coach a lot of different kids from different schools, watch the friendships form and watch some good baseball this summer.” Mark Fotelka took the loss for Cadillac in the opener. At the plate, Drew Moriarty and Levi Spencer led the way with two hits and an RBI each, while Derek Kearns, Jordan Moriarty and Josh Augustat had a hit apiece. Brandon Champion took the loss in the second game. Jordan Moriarty, Champion and Josh Rose had a hit and drove in a run each, while Kearns, Spencer and Fortelka had a hit apiece.
