Halladay pleas in Lake City, sentenced in Cadillac CADILLAC — A 29-year-old Reed City man has been sentenced to prison in one of several northern Michigan counties where he’s charged with larceny. Daniel Wade Halladay was sentenced Monday in 28th Circuit Court for two separate incidents of larceny more than $1,000 but less than $20,000. Halladay received two concurrent sentences of 47 to 90 months in prison. The sentences are to be served consecutively with Halladay’s probation violation. Although Halladay was initially charged with habitual offender fourth offense — which can carry up to life — he was treated as a two-time offender at sentencing because of guilty pleas. Judge David Hogg also set restitution at $25,862. The sentencing follows an incident on Jan. 4 in Cherry Grove Township and an incident on April 23 in Clam Lake Township. Meanwhile, Halladay also faced a judge in Lake City. On Monday, he pleaded guilty to larceny $20,000 or more and a habitual offender second offense notice was added. In exchange for his plea, other related charges were dismissed. Halladay pleaded to incident occurring between March 12 and March 20 in Reeder Township, court records indicate. Halladay was arrested following a raid on a Cherry Valley Township home in Lake County. After arriving at the house, police found more than $200,000 in equipment such as boats, trailers, motorcycles and farm equipment that had gone missing from homes and storage areas in seven northern Michigan counties. Halladay had previously been convicted on larceny and breaking and entering charges in Reed City, Big Rapids, Lake City and Baldwin. mwhetstone@cadillacnews.com | 775-NEWS (6397)
