Michelle Lynn Coffell and Scott Michael VanHeck, both of Traverse City, Michigan, were wed on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the GVSU Cook-DeWitt Center in Allendale, Michigan. Parents of the bride are John and Linda Coffell of Cadillac, Michigan, and parents of the groom are Dennis and Mary VanHeck of Walker, Michigan. John DeBoer, Campus Minister, performed the wedding ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father, John Coffell.
The bride wore a Justin Alexander A-line bridal gown with a sweetheart neckline that featured Venice lace over embroidered sequin lace. The waist was highlighted by a matte satin belt with an organza and tulle flower. The back was finished with tulle covered buttons and a chapel length train. The dress was accompanied by a fingertip length veil bordered with embroidered lace starting at the shoulders. The bride's round hand tied bouquet consisted of white hydrangeas, white spray roses, mirabella baby's breath, dark blue delphinium blooms. greens around the base, and stems wrapped in white satin ribbon.
Lisa Coffell, sister of the bride, of Columbia, South Carolina served as the Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids included friends of the bride: Kassie Koopman of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Betsy George of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and the groom's sister, Katie Bartholomew of Cedar Springs, Michigan.
Jeff VanHeck, brother of the groom, of Comstock Park, Michigan served as the Best Man. Groomsmen included friends of the groom: Jake Hallberg of Huntersville, North Carolina, Justin Wassenaar of Comstock Park, Michigan, and Jack Bouwman of Marne, Michigan.
Ron and Anne Wohlford of Cadillac, Michigan served as the Master and Mistress of Ceremonies. Music was provided by pianist, Carol George, of Cadillac, Michigan. The selections included: The Wedding March, Ave Maria, Make Us One, and the Prince of Denmark's March. Old Testament and New Testament readings were read by the groom's niece, Katelyn Bartholomew, and the mother of the bride, Linda Coffell. The bride and groom, along with their parents, participated in the lighting of the Unity Candle.
A reception was held at the GVSU L.V. Eberhard Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The couple honeymooned at Mackinac Island and Pictured Rocks.
Michelle earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Grand Valley State University and a Master's degree in Reading and Literacy K-12 from Central Michigan University. She is currently a Third Grade Teacher for Kalkaska Public Schools.
Scott earned his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Grand Valley State University. He is currently a CPA with Plante Moran in Traverse City, Michigan.
The couple reside in Traverse City, Michigan.
