CADILLAC — A 37-year-old (WILL BE 38 ON JUNE 15; CHANGE CUTLINE TOO) Cadillac man is facing a single charge of child abuse after he was arraigned recently in 84th District Court.
Jason Joseph Maurer was charged with one count of third-degree child abuse for his connection with an incident on April 29 in Cadillac. If convicted, Maurer faces up to two years in prison or probation for up to five years.
The charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. Maurer is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The prosecution has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
