CADILLAC — Saturday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m., Gopherwood Concerts brings The Legendary Trainhoppers to the third floor of the Elks in downtown Cadillac.
The band is made up of Colin Boyd (drums/percussion), Chris Dodds (vocals/guitar/harmonica/piano/accordian), Matt Kelley (mandolin/guitar), Phil Potts (vocals/guitar/lap steel), Dan Smyth (vocals/guitar), and Casey Stansifer (bass).
This group of songwriters and creative noisemakers will bring with them a roots-oriented yet stylistically complex collection of songs with stories to tell!
The Legendary Trainhoppers hail from Fort Wayne, Indiana. The band released their debut album, Ramble On, in 2006 and another, Family Tree, in 2016. Their most recent release, Let it Breathe (2017), has been described as "jubilant" with "some real fight to it."
When asked to describe their approach to Americana, roots-rock, alt-country, band members have said “Well, we keep it loose, especially in live performance — we always get a little anxious if we're feeling too rehearsed. We like to feel like the train could come off the tracks at any minute. The music we make is really just rock and roll, with some winks and nods to roots through some of our particular instrumentation, and of course lots of three-part harmony vocals.‘
Advance tickets are $15 for adults , $7 for students, and free for children 12 and under (with an adult). Tickets cost $18 at the door for adults, $9 for students. You can get your ticket at the After 26 Depot, Toy Town in Cadillac, online at My North Tickets, or by calling 1-800-836-0717.
