McBain Rural Agricultural School Board made some hiring decisions in June regarding the maintenance director position and a special education teacher.

MCBAIN — McBain Rural Agricultural School Board made some hiring decisions in June and accepted recommendations to hire a new maintenance director and special education teacher.

At its June 26 meeting, the board accepted elementary principal Kim VanderVlucht’s recommendation to hire Leslie Hejnal as an elementary special education teacher, said school superintendent Steve Prissel.

At its previous June 12 meeting, the board also unanimously voted to accept Prissel’s recommendation to hire Daryl Davison as the new maintenance director, according to the meeting’s minutes.

The school’s previous maintenance director, Dan Eisenga, retired on June 30.

In a letter to the school board, Eisenga said that he had put 28 service years into the school and had decided to pursue another area of employment.

In his own letter to the board, Prissel wrote that it was his pleasure to recommend Davison as the director of maintenance and custodial departments.

“Daryl has been with the district for two years and has worked very closely with Dan Eisenga to become knowledgeable in many areas of our maintenance program,‘ Prissel said. “He has been a custodian for us during his time here, assisted with grounds when needed and the go to employee when Dan was out of the district.‘

With the approval Davison’s duties began on July 1 and his starting salary is $50,000, according to Prissel’s letter.
