HOUGHTON LAKE — Three Missaukee County men have been arrested and charged in 82nd District Court for their part in the murder of a Houghton Lake man on Jan. 13.
At a press conference Tuesday at the Roscommon County Building, Roscommon County Sheriff Edward Stern said Levi Seelye, 20, of Falmouth, Jordan Tetro, 18, of McBain and Keante Grays, 18, of Lake City were all charged for their part in the murder of Jon Paul Dirette. Seelye, Tetro and Grays were each charged with open murder, assault with intent to rob while armed and felony firearm possession, Stern said.
The charges are merely accusations and not evidence of guilt. All three men are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The prosecution has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Just before midnight on Jan. 13, officers were sent to a home on McKinley Street in Houghton Lake to a report of a person being shot. Witnesses reported three masked subjects, now believed to be Seelye, Tetro and Grays entered the McKinley Street home armed with rifles. Eventually, Dirette, 29, was shot with a long gun and after the shooting, the three subjects fled on foot.
First aid was rendered to Dirette by first responders until EMS arrived. He was then transported to Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital. Dirette succumbed to his injuries and later was pronounced dead at the hospital.
In addition to the Roscommon Sheriff’s Office, the Michigan State Police and Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office aided the investigation
