CADILLAC — The final touches of the Market at Cadillac Commons are set to be applied this week, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony planned for next week.
Project architect Connie Houk, with Prein and Newhof, said contingent on the weather, they will be painting pavement markings on Tuesday at the Market.
“The city will close the entire Market lot off in the morning and open it back up as soon as the paint is dry,‘ Houk said in an email to the Cadillac News.
Last week, crews finished paving the parking lot of the structure, located between the Cadillac 4 Movie Theater and AMVETS building on Cass Street.
Houk said the ribbon cutting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29 at the Market.
The Market is one of four projects that comprise the Cadillac Commons, which includes the renovated Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion, Plaza area to the west of Elk Avenue and extension of White Pine Trail into downtown.
It was initially estimated that the Market would be finished by Labor Day, but Cadillac City Manager Marcus Peccia has previously said “a variety of unforeseen circumstances‘ pushed back the completion date.
The Market at Cadillac Commons is an open-air structure that city planners say will host events as well as the Cadillac Made in Michigan Artisan and Farm Market and the traditional farmers market.
