CADILLAC — A Michigan State Police trooper was recently promoted to the rank sergeant at the Cadillac Post.

The post announced Wednesday the promotion of Trooper Olivia Garlick to the rank of sergeant. Garlick is originally from Mayville and is a graduate of Mayville High School. After graduating from Lake Superior State University, she joined the Michigan State Police in 2012 as a member of the 123rd Trooper Recruit School.

Since her enlistment, Sgt. Garlick has served at the Cadillac Post, Michigan State Police Training Academy, and with the Traverse Narcotics Team. She also currently serves as a 7th District Human Trafficking Subject Matter Expert.

Sgt. Garlick will begin her new assignment on March 24 and will be responsible for the supervision of troopers and a multitude of administrative tasks.
