FIFE LAKE — Bob Jay Rooks Jr. of Fife Lake passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 6, 2019. He was 59.
Bob was born on October 18, 1959 in Alma, Michigan, to Bob and Eleanor (Bartlette) Rooks. He grew up and attended school in St. Louis, Michigan, before eventually making his way to Northern Michigan. Bob spent a good number of years as a contractor working in construction before eventually moving into over the road trucking. He had spent the last decade driving with Equity Transportation out of Walker, Michigan, a company he enjoyed being a part of. Bob was a reliable and dedicated driver, making numerous friends along the many routes he frequented. Time outside of work, he loved spending outdoors, hunting, taking his family fishing, and watching Detroit Tigers baseball. In earlier years, Bob found a passion for music playing bass guitar and was even a member of a rock band. He also developed a keen sense of independence, ability to occasionally question authority, as well as a tremendously playful sense of humor.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Jo Rooks of Fife Lake, Michigan; his mother, Eleanor Grace Moar of Spring Arbor; children, Shaye (Chad) Ellis of Augusta, Georgia, Stacy (Daniel) Ellis of Fife Lake, Michigan, Amy (Justin) Mazurek of Lake Leelanau, Michigan, Misty Smith of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Brandy Banks of Gaylord, Michigan; grandchildren, Jordan, Claire, Mara, Alex, Henry, Gabriel, Landen, Zoey, Josie, and Autumn; his sister, Grace McCormick; and his former spouse, Marcia Rooks.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Jay Rooks Sr.; granddaughter, Evelyn (Evvie) Ellis; and sister, Mary Griffin.
