CADILLAC — Naomi J. Sluiter of Cadillac passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. She was 86.
Mrs. Sluiter was born October 2, 1932 in Cadillac, Michigan, to Carl Leander and Sadie (Salisbury) Knoch and they preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cadillac and was active in the Adventist Community Service. Mrs. Sluiter served as Sabbath School Superintendent and many other volunteer offices and positions within the church. She enjoyed sewing, canning and collecting teddy bears. Mrs. Sluiter loved her family and cared for her mother while she was ill.
On April 11, 1953 in Cadillac she married Martin J. Sluiter, and he survives her along with their children: LouAnne Nickson of Cadillac, Robin (Greg) Zaleski of Burton, Marlin (Sue) Sluiter of Cadillac, Guy (Penny) Sluiter of McBain and Renee Sluiter of Grand Rapids; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Leo, Lucy, Betsy, Pat, Loretta and Marjorie.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 at Peterson Funeral and Cremation Services in Cadillac with Pastor Pat Milligan officiating. Friends may meet the family Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
