MANTON — Robert Don Muir of Manton passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019 at his home. He was 78.
Bob was born December 30, 1940 in Lansing, Michigan, to Robert D. and Dorothy (Osborne) Muir and they preceded him in passing.
Bob served in the United States Navy. He worked in construction for several years and later retired from Consumers Power after 30 years in 2001. He loved being in the woods and taking his dog, Sara, for walks. Bob also enjoyed spending time in his barn working on projects. He showed, bred and raised Morgan horses with Marilyn at their farm, Muir’s Morgans. Recently Bob and Marilyn enjoyed attending auctions and garage sales as well as having their own sales.
On October 18, 1986 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cadillac he married the former Marilyn J. Essig, and she survives him along with his daughter, Stacy (Steven) Ripley of Leroy; grandchildren: Dustin (Sarah) Ripley and Danielle Ripley; and great-grandchildren, Darren and Lisa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Shafley-Taylor.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cadillac with Reverend Timothy Selim officiating and full military rites under the auspices of the Cadillac Area Honor Guard. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
