REED CITY — Sharon Jean Harris (Batt), formerly of Manton, passed away of lung cancer on Wednesday June 5, 2019 at her home in New Caney, Texas. She was 78.
Sharon was born on January 21, 1941 in Cadillac, Michigan, to Emil and Mildred (Mowrey) Batt of Manton, Michigan. Sharon is survived by her husband of 59 years Robert E. Harris of New Caney, Texas, and Reed City, Michigan, son of Arthur E. and Lois Harris (Pullen) of Cadillac, Michigan. Sharon and Robert ( Bob ) were previous long time residents of Manton and Cadillac, Michigan. Sharon grew up in Manton and graduated from Manton High School in 1959 and Bob grew up in Cadillac, and graduated from Cadillac High School in 1957. Sharon was a La Salle graduate of interior design in Michigan, and also a graduate of the Houston Eye Institute for Opticians in Texas.
Sharon loved to read, we will all miss her wit and sense of humor. She loved her family and loved to go to the casino.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Emil A. and Mildred A. (Mowrey) Batt; her sisters, Vera M. Dahlquist of Lake City, Michigan, Virginia L. Barajas of Deming, New Mexico, Nadine Kay Penney of Manton, Michigan, and her Identical twin sister Karen Jane Elliott of Fife Lake, Michigan; brother, Donny Batt; brothers-in-law, Keith Dahlquist, Grover Dontje, Mike Barajas, Robert Elliott; sister-in-law, Jane Barrons.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Harris and son, Robert E. Harris Jr. and Ayde G. Bermudez of New Caney, Texas; daughter, Tori L. and Theodore Antoniadis, and granddaughters, Sarah and Alexa of Austin, Texas; daughter, Amy J. Smith, and grandsons Bryan R. and Kelly Smith of Lake City, Michigan, and great-granddaughters Annabelle and Charlotte; and grandson, Robert (Joey) Smith, and great-granddaughter Kara. Also brother, Larry Batt of Trapper Creek, Alaska; brother-in-law, Theodore Penney of Manton, Michigan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donna and Richard D. (Dick) VanWieren of Dade City, Florida, Carole S. and Arthur Lang of Cadillac, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
A memorial potluck dinner will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Lake Billings Park, 221 E. Elmore St., Manton, Michigan, beginning at noon. Honoring Sharon’s life with all family and friends invited.
