MCBAIN — They say turnabout is fair play.

Northern Michigan Christian did just that as it beat Brethren 3-0 in an MHSAA Division 4 district contest Thursday at home.

The Bobcats had beaten the Comets 4-0 on Monday but NMC won the game that really mattered. The win sends the Comets into a district semifinal contest Tuesday at home against Big Rapids Crossroads.

"Monday was quite possibly our worst game as a team all year and today was one of the best," NMC coach Dave VanHaitsma said. "We controlled the game from the beginning."

NMC finally got on the board with less than six minutes to go in the first half when Sydney Hart scored to give her team a 1-0 lead.

Paige Ebels converted a drop pass from Hart to the 18 by putting it top shelf where grandma keeps the peanut butter cookies in the 67th minute. Makayla Hall finished the scoring by pouncing on a rebound with three minutes left.

Megan Bennett was in the goal. VanHaitsma commended the defensive play of Maggie Yount, Kari VanPolen, Callie Keysor and Maddie Benthem.
